About Mijas

Mijas is one of the prettiest of the famous white Andalucian villages, and is situated in the foothills of the Sierras de Mijas.

A popular destination for everyone, from residents to holiday makers alike, and a perfect place to unwind and relax, or to travel to some of the famous cities around us.

Location

Mijas is situated about 5 miles from the coastal town of Fuengirola and about halfway between Marbella and Malaga. Where we have one of the best climates in europe, known internationally as the sunshine coast (Costa del Sol). The coast has plenty of water sports activities, and miles of sandy beaches, try some deep sea fishing, windsurfing or sailing!!

Activites and attractions

Marbella and Puerto Banus are a must to visit, you will find superb restaurants, designer boutiques, casinos and plenty of night life.

If you are visiting in the winter months you can be in the Sierra Nevada within a couple of hours, where you can enjoy skiing and some spectacular scenery. To see some of the countryside, take a ride out to the Lakes near Ardales or Antequera, where you can explore the mountain range of the famous Torcal. They are quite breathtaking and well worth a visit.

Andalucia is steeped in history, and from here, you can take trips to the historic cities of Malaga, Seville, Cordoba and Granada (home of the Alhambra palace).

Mijas is lucky to retain some of its local traditions, with local donkey taxis and horse drawn carriages that will transport you around the pueblo.
The local Feria is always in September where you can join in the fun of the processions, sevillana dancing and singing! You will be spoilt for choice with the local cuisine in the area.

We have a superb selection of restaurants offering everything from Typical Andalucian, with numerous 'tapas bars' where you can savour the local fare...... .. to Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Greek and German!

Don't forget to try the barbequed sardines if you are visiting one of the local beaches!
